Spanish justice is in the spotlight. From the Catalan push for independence which has seen judges jailing MPs and blocking others from being elected president, to the recent decision by a court to reject rape charges against a gang of men that assaulted a young woman and the jailing of a hip hop artist, confidence in Spain's judiciary is not at its best. Spain has not fully implemented any of the anti-corruption recommendations urged by the Council of Europe. And this puts judicial independence at risk, the international body warned today.
