The current candidate to the Catalan presidency, Jordi Sànchez, who is in pretrial detention, intends to step down as an MP in the near future. This will allow for a candidate who could actually attend the investiture debate in the Parliament to be nominated. Sànchez’s defense revealed his intention in the Spanish Supreme Court in an effort to get him out of prison. However the prosecutor asked for him to be kept in custody. Another official behind bars also faced court today, and his fate could be different. Meanwhile, in Geneva, debates on human rights in Catalonia are still being held.
