Catalonia has recognised this Friday the work of its Mossos d'Esquadra police during the attack in Barcelona that left 13 dead and around 130 injured, according to the latest statistics.

About 100,000 people, according to Barcelona's City Council, gathered in the famous plaça Catalunya in the centre of the city noon today to denounce the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. During this event, parts of the crowd gave a spontaneous ovation to the police as a show of thanks for its work during the attack.

"Spontaneous ovation for the Mossos d'Esquadra, the police force of Catalonia. Deserved doesn't cover it..."

"Very many thanks to the Mossos for your work, professionalism, dedication and bravery. You're indispensable."
