Although you may have heard different media declaring who the favourites are to win Eurovision 2022 this Saturday night, the truth is this: the interest generated by each song and artist taking part in this year's edition of the European song contest varies greatly from country to country. When you break it down like this, you see that not everything is decided, and the preferences of Eurovision fans around the continent are not all going in the same direction by any means. According to searches conducted in each country on Google (excluding the representative of the country itself), as registered by Google Trends, the greatest interest in Spain is in the representatives of Italy, the duo Mahmood & Blanco. And not just in Spain: if Google hits equate to Eurovision scores then the Italian singers could receive douze points from Ireland, Iceland, Switzerland and Serbia, according to the internet stats just hours before the start of the festival. Another artist generating a lot of interest on the interwebs is the Austrian contestant, LUM!X feat. Pia Maria, who is the most searched artist in the UK, France and Germany.

However, the data monitored by Google Trends is constantly changing. Below you can see the map of Europe with interest by countries to find out which representative is getting most online searches in each European territory.

Who's getting hot ...and who's not?

So... how has the interest in each Eurovision 2022 candidate changed in the last two weeks? Through the same platform, Google has monitored how interest for some candidates and countries has risen to fever pitch while others just keep bubbling away. Precisely, Spain's Chanel rose to the very top in this ranking just a few days ago - and although she's now dropped a few ranks, could that give her the momentum to be Spain's first winner since 1969? As of Wednesday, the top spot in this ranking was held by the Netherlands' S10. Has she peaked at the right time? What about Albania's Ronela Hajati, another late riser, who's just surged into the Top Five? Will the internet interest end up coinciding with the real results and ranking of the Eurovision gala? We will find out on Saturday night, from 9pm, Central European Summer Time.

In the meantime, you can watch official music videos for all contestants here

Follow the Eurovision 2022 gala, free to air on local broadcasters throughout Europe, as well as on the Eurovision Youtube channel, from 21:00 hours CEST this Saturday 14th May.
