Shakira's El Dorado tour, in support of the album of the same name, one of the most successful of her career, has not got off to a good start. The Colombian singer has had to postpone all European dates until 2018. The reason? Damage to her vocal cords due to a haemorrhage as she has announced herself via social media.

Shakira has already had to suspend the first concert planned for the tour on 8th November in Cologne, Germany. The artist had been working hard in recent rehearsals, but her doctors have recommended continued "vocal rest". She had explained this in an earlier Instagram post.

But the singer did not recover as hoped, and had to cancel yet more concerts. She posted another message on social media cancelling her shows in Paris, Antwerp and Amsterdam.

The tour is eagerly awaited by the Colombian's fans being her first since she became a mother to two children (Milan and Sasha). She had even considered retiring after feeling stage fright. In the end she decided to carry on and released her new album including such international hits as Me enamoréChantaje and Perro fiel.

This means her fans will have to continue waiting as she recovers and until new dates are announced. Barcelona will keep waiting for its turn, with the planned concerts in Palau Sant Jordi for 25 and 26 November among those cancelled.
