Everyone knows that Letizia wore a €3,500 dress to an event for disadvantaged people. She takes her look very seriously, and has now raised it to a new level.

The wife of Philip VI has hired her own dressmaker exclusively for her. She has had her since late 2016, as reported by the journalist specialising in the Queen, Núria Tiburcio, in Vanitatis.

The royal dressmaker is charged with creating new designs solely for the Queen of Spain, although she isn’t free to do whatever strikes her fancy.

Eva Fernández, the Queen’s stylist, is the go-between for Letizia and her new hire. Fernández “plays a key role” in the triangle, since she advises both Letizia and her dressmaker on “what clothing would best suit the Queen”.

Letizia’s exclusive dressmaker has already created some designs during the past few months. Both of them, says the journalist who published the news, were made of tweed, the traditional hand-loomed fabric of Scotland and Ireland dyed in earth tones.

Letizia has worn tweed clothing made by the dressmaker on at least two occasions: during her visit to the Episcopal Conference and to the National Sports Awards Gala.

It should be said that at the sports awards last January, Letizia’s look couldn’t hold a candle to Sofia. There were two reasons: the dowager Queen’s bright red dress... and the Joan Carles I-Bárbara Rey affair, which was just exploding.

Still, the Queen’s new dressmaker has joined Letizia’s team, which includes the stylist Eva Fernández and the hairstylist Luz Valero. By the way, Valero has long been the Queen’s trusted companion: they knew each other back when she did Letizia’s hair for the TVE news, and later Letizia brought her to the Zarzuela Palace.
