Catalonia continues leading in terms of industrial output. According to figures published by the INE (National Institute of Statistics), its industrial output was 1.2% higher this June than the same period last year.

On the other hand, the average for the whole of Spain fell 2%, with setbacks for all sectors except manufacturers of capital goods and intermediate goods, which grew 0.9% and 1.7% respectively. Catalonia is the seventh autonomous community in terms of growth. Cantabria saw the highest year-on-year increase (5.8%), followed by the Canary Islands (2.5%) and the Basque Country (2.1%).

Growth in Catalonia

Catalonia has seen five months in a row of year-on-year growth in industrial activity. All sectors of manufacturing have seen production increase except those producing intermediate goods and energy, which fell 0.1% and 17.7% respectively. Capital goods companies saw a 10.3% increase in production, durable goods increased 5.4%, general consumption goods, 3.3% and short shelf-life, 3.1%.
