Castells, or human towers, are a typical Catalan tradition declared by UNESCO to be a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. The CCCC (Coordinator of Castells Teams of Catalonia) has reported that all its bank accounts have been blocked since 20th September on orders of the Spanish Treasury. According to a statement, the ministry didn't notify them of the reasons for the measure. It means, in practice, that any payment they make has to be overseen by the Treasury. CCCC has asked both the Tax Agency and their banks for an explanation.

Translation: We denounce the blocking of our bank accounts by order of the Treasury

Unjustifiable

CCCC describes this measure as "unjustifiable", "taking into account that the CCCC is a private, non-profit, federative entity, as are all the entities that make it up, and without any organic relation to the Government of Catalonia". The CCCC was able to confirm that its NIF (ID number) appears on the list of entities affected by the measures adopted by the Government Commission for Economic Affairs, but erroneously attributed to the Consortium of the Casteller Museum of Catalonia, which CCCC forms part of alongside the Town Council of Valls, the Tarragona Provincial Deputation and the Catalan government. It means that they believe the intervention to be an error, and they've asked for it to be immediately lifted.

Against the state's measures

The CCCC takes advantage of the statement to condemn all together the measures the Spanish state is taking against the Catalan government. "Beyond our specific case, the CCCC wants to show its radical rejection of the measure of intervening in the accounts of the Government of Catalonia and the bodies linked to it". They immediately received support online after their statements were published.
